Stoneham TV Celebrates the Grand Opening of Howard C. Porter Art Gallery

Stoneham TV is thrilled to announce the grand opening of the Howard C. Porter Art Gallery. The event begins on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at Stoneham TV, 53 Central Street, Stoneham, MA with the ribbon cutting ceremony at 6:00 p.m. This event is open to the public.

This event marks a significant milestone for the Stoneham community as we celebrate the life and legacy of Howard C. Porter, a 55-year beloved resident who contributed to the community in countless ways and sadly passed away this May.

The Howard C. Porter Art Gallery will feature an extensive collection of his life's work, lovingly curated by his family. An eclectic display highlighting his contributions to the arts, culture, and community. The event will showcase his unique life journey, the impact he had on many, and his significant contributions to the world.

In addition to the exhibit, the family will proudly announce that Stoneham TV is creating a scholarship that will be available annually in Howard C. Porter's name. This scholarship for Stoneham High School graduating seniors aims to support emerging artists and continue Porter's legacy of fostering creativity and community engagement.

Join us for an amazing evening under the stars as we come together to honor and celebrate a life truly well lived. Refreshments will be provided, live music will be performed, and attendees will have the opportunity to meet local artists from the Porter Art Group in an outdoor tent. Also, we will be showcasing the "best of" clips from Porter's community access television show which is sure to delight the event’s guests.

True to Porter’s motto, “art should be shared, not stored” a small work of Porter’s art will be shared with all attendees as a token of appreciation from the family that has received so much love and support from a beloved community in his passing.

The exhibit with Porter’s artwork and achievements will be on display at Stoneham TV until December 20, 2024 during Stoneham TV’s regular hours of operation. Starting in early 2025 local artists will display their artwork in the Howard C. Porter Art Gallery for the community to enjoy.
